1. The Ecomuseo of the Soapstone and the Stonemasons, the Malesco municipality, the Val Grande National Park Institution and the Association “Ipotesi Cinema Piemonte - Postazione per la memoria” with the aegis of the Piedmont Region, the VCO Province and the Valle Vigezzo Consortium organise the 10th edition of the International shorts festivals MALESCORTO 2010.
   
   
2. Works from all over the world will be admitted: during the first four evenings, finalists’ movies, divided into 8 categories, will be shown.
   
   
3. The Art Director of the Festival, Giancarlo Baudena, will appoint a first Committee which will select the finalists and two competent juries (each of them composed of three members) which will establish the eight winning movies.
   
   
4. The Festival is also open to film directors and studios that present animation movies, made in any format, with free or environmental topic, and lasting from 1 to 20 minutes.
   
   
5. The works are to be sent by mail, on DVD (PAL), with the Competition Participation Form and a written presentation of the author and his work, photographs and information about its production. The DVDs have to be Region 0 or Region 2.
   
   
6. Works that match the regulations, both finalists and not, will be registered and become part of the Festival archive which will remain at the disposal of the schools and the institutions which will apply for it for didactic purposes. They may be used for free promotional evenings established by the Festival organisers, after the works authors’ consent.
   
   
7. The works have to be sent to the following address:

8. The works will not be returned and have to arrive at the Festival venue by 30th May 2010. Please mark the DVD, and its box, with a label showing title, director, information to contact him/her.
   
   
9. The competition is divided into 3 categories and involves 8 prizes, divided as follows:
   
   
   • FREE TOPIC SECTION
     
     
     • Best fictional short, lasting from 1 to 20 minutes
       Money prize of € 500,00.
       
       
     • Best documentary short, lasting from 1 to 30 minutes
       Money prize of € 500,00.
       
       
     • Best animation short, lasting from 1 to 20 minutes
       Money prize of € 500,00.
       
       
   • ECOLOGY SECTION (naturalistic topic shorts, and shorts about environmental education)
     
     
     • Best fictional short, lasting from 1 to 20 minutes
       Money prize of € 500,00.
       
       
     • Best documentary short, lasting from 1 to 30 minutes
       Money prize of € 500,00.
       
       
     • Best animation short, lasting from 1 to 20 minutes
       Money prize of € 500,00.
       
       
     • Best school-made short, lasting from 1 to 20 minutes
       Money prize of € 500,00.
       
       
   • INSUBRIA-LEPONTINA REGION DOCUMENTARY CATEGORY (which comprises the Italian Provinces of Como, Varese, Lecco, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and the Swiss Canton Ticino)
     
     
     • Best documentary short, lasting from 1 to 30 minutes
       Money prize of € 2.500,00.
       
       
10. Incomplete or unreadable works will not be taken in consideration.
    
    
11. The delivery is charged to the participants.
    
    
12. Works that are not in Italian or English have to be provided with Italian or English subtitles. If the subtitles are missing, the English or Italian translation of the dialogues has to be sent, otherwise the work will be excluded from the competition.
    
    
13. The authors of the selected works will receive confirmation via e-mail.
    
    
14. The Festival organiser will not take responsibility for possible thefts, damages or losses of the stuff.
