Extended the Malescorto Announcement 2024 to January 31, 2024!

Updated: Dec 29, 2023

Malescorto, the Vigezzo Valley International Short Film Festival, which stands out every year for the quality of the short films presented, will return to enrich the summer of Malesco with its 24th edition, scheduled from Monday, July 22 to Saturday, July 27, 2024.

After the new, great success of the 2023 festival, the Municipality of Malesco and the Ecomuseo ed Leuzerie e di Scherpelit, organizers of the festival, decide to publish in advance of the usual the new call for participation in the Festival, which in previous years had obtained the patronage of Piedmont Region, Fondazione Comunitaria del VCO Ente Filantropico, Ente Parco Nazionale Val Grande, Ordine degli Architetti, Pianificatori, Paesaggisti e Conservatori delle province di Novara e Verbano Cusio Ossola and Associazione Musei dell'Ossola.

Participation in the 2024 competition is, as always, free and open to all, regardless of nationality or place of residence: filmmakers, production companies and educational institutions are eligible to submit short films with a maximum length of twenty minutes for consideration by January 31, 2024 (initially the deadline was December 31, 2023). Works must be reported through the most common video platforms (vimeo, youtube and the like), or through online file sharing services (wetransfer, dropbox and the like) and private ftp protocols.

As always, very rich and varied awards are planned. In addition to the Grand Prize Malescorto 2024, worth € 1,000, awarded to the director of the best short film overall, there are special prizes "Di- segnare" (€ 200), curated by Associazione Musei dell'Ossola; "MaleSchool" (€ 300) awarded to the best short film made by schools; "Parco Nazionale della Val Grande" (€ 300); "Trasmettere Architettura" (€ 400) curated by the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of the provinces of Novara and Verbano Cusio Ossola; "Territories" (€ 200), awarded to the director of the best short film shot in the territory of the Insubrica Region-which includes the provinces of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Varese, Sondrio, Como, Lecco (with the exception of Valle San Martino), Monza and Brianza, Novara, Lodi and part of the province of Pavia (Pavese and Lomellina), as well as the Canton of Ticino and the Italian Grisons and the Metropolitan City of Milan.

Also in 2024 there will be no shortage of the Audience Award; finally, it is within the jury's powers to award any special mentions.

The call for entries to the Festival and updates are online at the Festival's official website www.malescorto.it.
